It also acts as a charter for criminals and terrorists, not to mention so-called "human rights lawyers".&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Australia should steer clear of this and rely on the Common Law. &lt;/p&gt;</description><dc:creator xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">John Evans</dc:creator><pubDate>Wed, 10 Dec 2008 08:26:40 -0000</pubDate></item><item><title>Re: Fence sitting on an Australian Bill of Rights</title><link>http://www.duncanriley.com/fence-sitting-on-an-australian-bill-of-rights/#comment-4306941</link><description>&lt;p&gt;There is something a little perverse about the Government ultimately choosing what's included in the Bill of Rights and what's not. One would think that it should be written by an independent committee of sorts that consulates "with the nation" to ensure that there are sections that protect the people from the Government -- free speech being an example of that. Free speech is not necessarily in the Governments best interests; but it is in the peoples.&lt;br&gt;&lt;/p&gt;</description><dc:creator xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">Rowan</dc:creator><pubDate>Wed, 10 Dec 2008 05:45:53 -0000</pubDate></item></channel></rss>
