duncanriley.com: Some Australian PR Reps don’t get blogs

And probably in a couple of months the $10 balance will be in the red with the various bank charges and taxes.

To put a positive spin on it, we (CarAdvice.com.au) get a great deal of respect from PR firms - invitation to car launches, overseas trips etc. So the blog gains enough credibility and the PR people are aware of the power of the blog, you will get there.

    Cheers,

American PR people are pretty clueless. I have a little 5k/uniques/month blog, and the things that I'm pitched with have always been absurd or insulting. Either I'm lending my credibility to something horrible, or I'm being asked to rent it out to review some crappy software that isn't ready to be reviewed.

So if a PR does something that looks so dumb, you have to wonder if there wasn't an underlying thought process that they just didn't explain properly?

If I was pitching you a bank account, I would be worried about making it too large (that just looks like underhanded buying, which would do actual harm)... I'd be inclined to make it a token amount so that you're getting the experience, not the cash.

Doubtless the experience would have been sweeter had the token amount been... not quite so token - or indeed, had there been any real benefit in the bank's product!! Oh well. Trust you spent the $10 wisely.
