duncanriley.com: Top Gear Australia fails because it’s just a car show

One critical thing for me, as I'm trying to watch Top Gear Australia, I fell asleep. Literally. Try as I may, the show just doesn't pull me in the driver sit for whatever car they are reviewing. Plus the humour factor off. It's like the US version of Kath and Kim.

Haven't seen the Aussie version, but I agree with you about the UK version of Top Gear. It's informative and entertaining at the same time.

Give it time. Two episodes in and the Pommy version was shit too.

Go back and watch the first season of TopGear UK with Clarkson, but be sure to bring a pillow, it isn't entertaining for people who aren't car lovers. However a season or two later it really begins to pop and sing.

I'd give em a season to hit their stride, and drop the guy with the moe.

I guess there is nothing like the REAL Top Gear.... I watch only it and Fifth Gear....

Duncan, got to agree with you on this - it hasn't quite got the same magic yet.

I do like see Australian stars in the reasonably priced car. But the larrikan Aussie spirit isn't quite coming through in this series. The set should be a shed, not the carbon copy of the UK series.

We should be seeing some utes undertaking circle work. The Kalgoorlie ute slug out was good and uniquely Australian thouugh.

It did me a little time to become completely hooked on Top Gear UK- perhaps we need a little more time for these guys to find their feet as the Top Gear UK guys did. James May wasn't on the first series....

They should copy what UK Top Gear is doing. Hopefully they can have that many viewers. We don't want to sleep while watching.
